Light at the End of a Dark
Tunnel
by Yolanda Baker
Did you know there is light at the end of the dark tunnel? Do you know where
that light comes from? Allow me to explain how it shines.
A poor and desperate little girl lies on a cold and damp basement floor. She
weeps, as she is naked and wounded. All she knows is pain on the cold floor.
Her heart cries, "Why Lord? I need your help, please save me."
She waits to hear the voice that many say will be heard. But she hears
nothing. As a little child she feels lost and all alone. She knows no one
will come and save her.
Can anyone handle such pain?
This little girl aches deeply from her wounded body, her wounded spirit, and
in the depths of her soul. She vows to never forgive and never to forget all
she's been through. She believes that she will always be suffering.
Her heart aches to know true honest love, but not the kind of love she has
witnessed all her young life. While she weeps on the floor, she is unaware
of someone near by -- Someone who loves her and desires to hold her through
the pain! Yet He cannot reach her because the vow she made holds him back.
His heart aches to see this precious child in such anguish. If only she
would open her heart to him she would know he is there.
He waits with his arms wide open and his love tucked in his heart. For now
he knows this is all he can do.
As the years drift by, this little girl grows to be a young woman. She has
tried many ways, with many people, to find the love she seeks. Yet she
cannot find. The pain grows like cancer and overtakes her heart. She truly
believes the world will be a better place without her. She often ponders the
quickest way to end her life. Some days she sees herself jumping from the
highest cliff. Other days she believes pills would be less painful. Either
way, it doesn’t matter. It would be over, and that would be the end of the
suffering!
She plans the day in great detail: The date, the time, the place, and even
the room where she would be found. She chooses the clothes to wear, and the
music she wants to play on that glorious day. (Or it seemed glorious to her,
anyway). As the date approaches, she becomes anxious, and she worries about
if, and by whom, she will be missed. After a while, she decides no one will
miss her, and carries on with her plan.
Unknown to her, the one who loves this precious child grows deeper in his
love for her, hoping that this will draw her closer to him. But instead she
takes another step toward breathing her last breath.
The day arrives and she gets everything ready. For a moment she sits on her
bed, with all the pills in hand. As the music plays softly, and she feels
her heart beating more furiously within, she is sure the music would help
calm her. Once again, she tries desperately to think of someone who might
love her and miss her. Again, she decides that no one cares.
She pops the pills into her mouth, and with a shaking hand reaches for the
glass of water. The music seems mellow. "It must help calm me down," she
thinks to herself. She lays her head on her pillow and waits!
She knows by being still that the end will come more quickly. Yet she hears
the music stop.
"How can this be?" she wonders. She knows she chose the longest playing
music she had. While pondering this, she hears someone whispering to her.
"Who's there?" she cries. She waits to hear a response, for it's only when
she is quiet and still that she can hear his voice.
Now his hand is on her shoulder, and his love is intensifying. She needs him
now more than ever before. He bends down and whispers in her ear, "My
precious child, I love you so! I knew you before you were born. I cared for
you in your mother's womb. I have never stopped loving you, nor will I ever
stop!
"This is not my will for you. I have many things planned that will help
guide lost souls into my arms. And you will be part of that work. My child,
you asked many times where I was. I have been here all the time. But I could
do nothing until you opened your heart to me. You see, I knew how your life
would go. I also knew that what Satan had planned for evil in your life, I
would turn for good! The choice now is yours!
"Take my hand and the love you've been longing for. My love will set you
free. Allow me to breath life back into your empty soul. I am the Way, the
Truth and the Life".
"Take my life within you, and don't take yours."
